Evaluation

The Gauchos' goal is to keep youngsters in school by providing the incentive of excellent basketball competition and combining it with an emphasis on education. Every participating youngster whom has the desire to make something of his of her life is given support and guidance to help him or her on their way. Gauchos' players must be in school to play and they are required to show every report card to their coaches.

Coaches and volunteers monitor and regularly evaluate players' progress both on the courts and in school. Coaches examine players' report cards and stay in close contact with the youngster' school coaches and counselors as well. This method works; for 100% of Gauchos seniors have the opportunity to go on to attend colleges or junior college. In addition, the younger kids come back to the gym week after week and year after year to play ball.

This is our clearest measure of success but for Gauchos, success comes both in tiny increments and in great ones. While successes can be measured in games and tournaments won, in high school diplomas earned and college scholarships awarded, in Gauchos graduates making the grade in professional basketball and in Gauchos graduates working productively in a wide variety of other respected professions, there are many immeasurable successes along the way.
