| The Gauchos' success in encouraging young men to stay in school has been built upon cooperation with many other organizations. The staff works closely with area high school counselors and coaches in monitoring the youngster' progress. Close relationships are maintained with colleges from across the country. In fact, college teams from out of town including University of Connecticut, University of Minnesota, and Manhattan Colleges have held practices (open to Gauchos players to observe) at the Gauchos gym prior to local games. The gym has also been the site of numerous community fund-raisers and other events. IIA VO, the International Associations of Approved Basketball Officials, has held its annual evaluation clinic at the gym for the past several years and the Summer Pro Am Tournament has been held at the gym for the past two years. This year, the McDonald's High School All-American Dunk and three Point Shooting Contest were held at the gym. |
