Austin Wallace 6-8 forward LaSalle Academy, NYC. 6/15/04 Rumble in the Bronx: The Gauchos, City Rocks game may have been the day's best as the 'chos held on for a 60-57 victory despite a 28 point effort from the Rocks' Taylor Battle. The Gauchos' trio of Austin Wallace (pictured), Dakell Glen and Anthony Gill got 21, 14 and 12 to ensure the win. Wallace is most impressive. He is a 6-7 fluid post player somewhat reminiscent of and comparable to Curtis Kelly as he is long, agile and good around the hoop. Austin will be a young junior at LaSalle Academy next season (he transferred. but didn't play this year) and is the early favorite to be the CHSAA division A most impressive player. 3/8/04 John P Miciotta: 'much of the nucleus of the LaSalle team that now heads to the semi-finals against the St. John's Prep-Fordham Prep winner returns next season. Juniors Brandon Roberts, Jessie Bradley and Patrick Thomas all return next season and will be joined by 6-8 transfer Austin Wallace to form a contender in what should be a highly competitive "A" division that's chock full of talent that will not get the recognition of their "AA" brethren, but that local low majors as well as D-II and D-III programs should watch carefully.
