UConn guards Jerome Dyson and Kemba Walker were named to the All-Big East third team Sunday, while center Alex Oriakhi was named to the all-rookie squad.
The league's player, coach and rookie of the year awards will be announced Tuesday as the Big East tournament gets underway. UConn, the 12th seed in the league tournament, will play 13th-seeded St. John's in the opening round of the event Tuesday (2 p.m., ESPN2) at Madison Square Garden. The Huskies (17-14, 7-11) finished the regular season with a 75-68 loss to South Florida Saturday. UConn Jim Calhoun coach benched his seniors -- Dyson, Stanley Robinson and Gavin Edwards -- for the final 16 minutes of the USF game and promised to start Tuesday's game with all on the bench again.
